Homily given at the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Monday, December 31, 2012, the Vigil of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, by Dcn. Larry Randolph, Christ the King Catholic Church. Mary is the perfect example of fulfilling the purpose we all have in this life, that is, to be conformed to the image of her Son, to be Christ-like. We need to honor Mary for being chosen as the Mother of God because of the love that God had for her; for her total giving of self to God in love; and for being our mother by interceding for us through her prayers.

Key words: Christmas, surrender to God, Marian devotion
