Homily given at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Thursday, November 22, 2012, Thanksgiving Day, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Solomon starts his reign well, worshipping God and thanking Him for His many gifts. However, he did not keep his eyes on God, marrying pagan wives and building temples for their false gods. As a result, the kingdom is torn apart after his death. It isn't enough to just start well. We must persevere, choosing to keep Jesus as King at the center of our lives and thanking Him for reigning in us.
Key words: Thanksgiving,
surrender, perseverance
