Homily given at the 11:30 a.m.
Mass on Sunday, November 4, 2012, the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time,
by Dcn. Dan Foley, Christ the King Catholic Church. Catholic
understanding is that, as a follower of Jesus, we are called, not
just to belief, but to action, to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Yet the government through the HHS Mandate would try to limit our
freedom of religion, guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, to just
worship that takes place behind church walls. In the face of this
challenge, we have a responsibility to vote with the first priority
being the protection of human life and the second priority being
the protection of religious liberty.
Key words: voting, pro-life,
freedom of religion, religious liberty
