Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 10, 2013, the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Today's first reading from the Second book of Maccabees (2 Macc. 7:1-2, 9-14) gives the story of the martyrdom of a mother and her seven sons who chose to remain faithful to the Lord. We as a parish must support our families, as stated in the 8th principle of the Christ the King Mission Statement, as they prepare their children to live and witness to the Gospel. (For Fr. Ed's reflections on the Parish Mission Statement, go to www.ctkcc.net.)
