Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 21, 2015, the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. David Fons, newly-ordained priest of the Diocese of Lansing, celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving at Christ the King Catholic Church. Fr. David focuses on todays reading from St. Paul which states "The love of Christ impels us..." He asks us to consider what that means in each of our lives. Fr. David characterizes Christ's love as unconditional, supernatural, and life giving. He wonders how, when Christ loves us so much, can we give Him anything less than our whole selves? Fr. David encourages us to trust in the love of Christ, in times of peace and in times of suffering. |
