Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 14, 2012, the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Fr. Ed notes that, even though Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived, it wasn't enough because he didn't follow God with his whole heart. Similarly, the rich young man obeyed all the commandments, but walked away from an invitation to follow Jesus. God's truth, His invitations, are not coercive. We have to decide to accept His truth and follow Him. Fr. Ed explores some of the implications of this for us, especially as we prepare for the elections.
