Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, September 1, 2019, the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.

Society in the time of Jesus was very status conscious. Jesus, however, in today's Gospel calls us to meet the needs of the poor. Pope Francis has recently called on the Charismatic Renewal to take particular care for the poor. As a concrete expression of this and in light of the connections that we already have in Flint through the Servants of God's Love and priest alumni of CTK serving there, Fr. Ed asked CTK parishioners to pray about the possibility of taking the Catholic Community of Flint as a sister parish. Please ask the Lord Jesus what He has in mind for us in this way and let Fr. Ed know via email at pastor@ctkcc.net.
