Brad Schmidt gave a talk to parents of teens on December 2, 2012 about current youth culture and its impact on families and parenting today. Teens today are different than they've been at any point in history, partially due to the impact of technology, partially due to the influence of a culture that's radically different than even 10 years ago, and partially due to the parenting styles of Generation X and later Baby Boomers. The talk is based on the book "Generation iY," by Tim Elmore. To order a copy, click here. For more information, visit the SaveTheirFutureNow.com |

Homily given at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Thursday, November 22, 2012, Thanksgiving Day, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Solomon starts his reign well, worshipping God and thanking Him for His many gifts. However, he did not keep his eyes on God, marrying pagan wives and building temples for their false gods. As a result, the kingdom is torn apart after his death. It isn't enough to just start well. We must persevere, choosing to keep Jesus as King at the center of our lives and thanking Him for reigning in us. Key words: Thanksgiving, surrender, perseverance |

Ed asks, Is Christ the King of your life? He reminds us of two important aspects of our King: His omnipotence and His benevolence. We need to know that our King is all-powerful and that He loves each one of us beyond reason. What are the practical things that we should do to surrender more fully to His reign? Key words: Christ the King, surrender to God |

Homily given at the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, November 24, 2012, the Solemnity of Christ the King, by Fr. Fortunato Turati of the Servants of Charity. On this day when we celebrate the kingship of Jesus Christ over the universe, Fr. Fortunato asks, is he our king? When the world, like Pilate in the Gospel, says to us, "Behold your king!", what is our answer? Key words: Christ the King, love, surrender |

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 18, 2012, the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Christians have speculated about when the Lord Jesus will return since He ascended to Heaven. Instead of speculating, we should always be ready for Him to return, either at the Second Coming or at the moment of our death. If He is reigning in our lives, we can look forward to His return. Do we choose every day to let Him reign in us? Key words: surrender to God, trust |
