Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 24, 2013, Palm (Passion) Sunday, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. What do we expect as we enter this holiest week of the year? Over and over, the Lord exceeds our expectations, as the popes of the last 60 years have demonstrated. This week we should have greater expectations of what the Savior has for us. He loves to save and we need Him to save us. Let's surrender our lives to Him and open our hearts to all the love and gifts that He wants to bring. Key words: surrender |

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 17, 2013, the Fifth Sunday of Lent, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. In today's Gospel, the woman caught in the act of adultery experiences the unconditional love and forgiveness of Jesus. St. Patrick, whose feast would normally be celebrated today, also experienced the love and mercy of Jesus. He allowed Jesus to so deeply convert him that he wanted to share that love with the Irish, who had kidnapped him as a youth. He will always take care of us, if we will let Him convert our hearts and make them like His. Key words: love, forgiveness, mercy |

Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 17, 2013, the Fifth Sunday of Lent, by Fr. Satheesh Caniton Alphonse of the Servants of Charity. (At this Mass the Third Scrutinies were celebrated for the RCIA candidates and elect, so the readings were from Year A.) Fr. Satheesh encourages us to see ourselves in Lazarus, who was raised from the dead by Jesus after four days. God helps us, but He does it in His own time. We are people of the resurrection, but it does not mean that we will not suffer. We must stay close to Jesus, and let God work in His own time. Key words: resurrection, trust |

Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 3, 2013, the Third Sunday of Lent, by Fr. Satheesh Caniton Alphonse of the Servants of Charity. (At this Mass the First Scrutinies were celebrated for the RCIA candidates and elect, so the readings were from Year A.) Fr. Satheesh notes that in both the first reading and the Gospel, the people are thirsty. The drink that Jesus gives us will give us eternal life. Just as Jesus helped the woman at the well see herself, He helps us also to see ourselves when we come into His presence. No one ever really sees oneself until he sees oneself in the presence of Christ. Key words: eternal life |

Homily given at the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, March 2, 2013, the Third Sunday of Lent, by Fr. Satheesh Caniton Alphonse of the Servants of Charity. Fr. Satheesh reflects on today's readings, noting that all three readings remind us of the grace of God. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the highest act of God's love for us. During Lent we should be thinking of all that God has done for us, and how He wants us to respond. We should be thankful to God for pouring His grace upon us and giving us the time to repent. Key words: grace, love, thankfulness, Lent |
