Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 21, 2013, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. In the Gospel for this Sunday, the annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations, we read that Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice." (John 10:27) If we draw close to the Lord Jesus, we will hear His voice, and He can guide us, especially in regard to our vocations.

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 14, 2013, the Third Sunday of Easter, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. As St. Paul points out in his letter to the Romans, "The love of God is poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit that has been given to us." (Rom. 5:5) It's this love, which they received when the Holy Spirit came upon them at Pentecost, that impelled the Apostles to witness to Jesus, even at the risk of their lives. Do we love Jesus enough to live for Him, even to suffer for Him? Fr. Ed points to the example of Fr. Emil Kapaun, a US Army chaplain who died as a Prisoner of War in North Korea in 1951 and whose cause for canonization has been introduced in the Church.
