The first talk in the Advanced Charisms Course, given by Fr. Ed Fride, pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church, and Dr. Mary Healy, Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. This talk was given on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. In the opening talk in this new course, Fr. Ed describes why the nine charismatic gifts listed in I Corinthians 12 are at the heart of the Catholic Church and have been since her beginning. Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on April 7, 2013, the Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday) by Fr. Pat Egan, Chaplain at Ave Maria Radio. The Resurrection of Jesus ushers in a whole new era of Divine Mercy. Mercy is love's response to suffering, especially the suffering caused by sin. We see an example of that mercy in His response to Thomas, and to us.
