Talk given at "Using Calm, Cool Logic to Dismantle Pro-Choice Views," a Young Adult Pro-Life Conference held at Christ the King Catholic Church on March 9, 2013. Dr. Clint Olson is a convert to Catholicism who is currently a seminarian at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. The three questions that he addresses from a medical perspective are, When does human life begin? Is the embryo or fetus inside the womb really a human person? and What are the complications associated with abortion that make it a harmful procedure, not just for the child, but for the woman?

Talk given at "Using Calm, Cool Logic to Dismantle Pro-Choice Views," a Young Adult Pro-Life Conference held at Christ the King Catholic Church on March 9, 2013. Fr. Ed Fride is pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, MI. If we base our arguments against abortion simply on Church teaching, then those who do not accept Church teaching will not be convinced. We need to also be able to appeal to logic, science and philosophy. Fr. Ed describes the fallacious philosophy behind some of the pro-abortion arguments. He then answers questions from the audience at the end of the talk.

Talk given at "Using Calm, Cool Logic to Dismantle Pro-Choice Views," a Young Adult Pro-Life Conference held at Christ the King Catholic Church on March 9, 2013. Lia Mills is a teenager from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, who, as a 12-year-old, wrote a speech on abortion for a speech contest at her school. Her parents posted a video of her giving the talk on YouTube, where it has generated more that 1 million views. Since then, Lia has become a powerful defender for life, speaking out through her video blog on many of the key issues facing today's society. In this talk, Lia reviews and addresses many of the pro-choice arguments, focusing especially on the key questions, is the unborn child a human being, and is the unborn child a human person. The sixth and final talk in the Advanced Charisms Course, given by Fr. Ed Fride, pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church, on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. Fr. Ed reviews some resources to help Catholics better understand and explain to others how the charismatic gifts are rooted in the heart of the Catholic Church. He encourages everyone to not get into an "either-or" approach regarding their spiritual lives, but to embrace all four pillars of the spiritual life identified by Pope John Paul the Great: Eucharistic, contemplative, charismatic, and Marian. He urges everyone to read Scripture regularly as God's Word forms the foundation for the pillars. He closes by encouraging everyone to say "Yes" to whatever Jesus wants to do in and through us for the sake of His Kingdom. He then takes a few questions before moving on to the lab portion of the class, led by Dr. Mary Healy.
