Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 12, 2013, the Solemnity of the Ascension and Mother's Day, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Just before Jesus ascended, He said, "It is better for you that I go," because then He would send the Holy Spirit, Who would clothe us with power. Fr. Ed discusses why we need more of the power of the Spirit in order to live for Jesus and defend His way of life, such as Christian motherhood. The fifth talk in the Advanced Charisms Course, given by Fr. Ed Fride, pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church, on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. Jesus in today's Gospel calls us to love one another as He has loved us. We cannot do that on our own. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to love as He loved.
