Talk given on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, by Dr. Ralph Martin as part of Christ the King Catholic Church's 2014 Parish Mission, "Living as a Catholic in Challenging Times." In this, the first talk of the mission, Ralph talks about the "big picture" of the challenges that Catholics and Christians are facing and will be facing in the days ahead. Ralph Martin is Associate Professor of Theology and Director of Graduate Programs in the New Evangelization at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. A well-known evangelist and long-time leader in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Dr. Martin is President of Renewal Ministries and host of the long-running EWTN program, "The Choices We Face." He was appointed in December 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI to a five-year term as a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization and served as an "expert" for the World Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization. The fourth talk in the Walking in the Spiritual Gifts class, given by Dr. Mary Healy, associate professor of Sacred Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. This talk was given on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. This course is designed to inspire and equip participants to walk in the supernatural charisms as a way of life, especially to evangelize and to build up the body of Christ. It expands on last year’s Advanced Charisms Course. Dr. Healy speaks of the gift of prophecy in both the broad and narrow senses of the term. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, illness and suffering have been a part of the human condition because of sin. Jesus has given us incredible gifts in these Sacraments, allowing for our bodies - but more importantly, our souls - to be healed and strengthened. |

This talk was given on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church as part of the Upper Room Ministry. This course is designed to inspire and equip participants to walk in the supernatural charisms as a way of life, especially to evangelize and to build up the body of Christ. It expands on last year’s Advanced Charisms Course. Fr. Ed speaks about the role of experience and our emotional lives in our relationships with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Then he addresses the complementary relationship between the charismatic and contemplative aspects of our lives with God and a particular experience called being slain in, or resting in, the Holy Spirit or, as St. Teresa of Jesus referred to it, a suspension.
