Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 27, 2014, the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. When God offered Solomon anything he wanted, Solomon, who was in love with God, selflessly asked for wisdom to govern the people. But he made a series of choices that eventually led him into bitterness and the people into idolatry. We have to not only start well, but end well. We need to yield to wisdom, to take full advantage of all that God gives us, and to stay focused on Jesus. Keywords: evangelization |

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 20, 2014, the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Today's Gospel is the parable of the wheat and the weeds (Matthew 13:24-43). The weeds, like the ground in last Sunday's parable, do not have a choice about being weeds. But people can change, as many of the greatest saints of the Church prove. We need to be wheat, wheat that lovingly, truthfully invite the weeds to change! Keywords: evangelization |

Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 13, 2014, the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. In today's Gospel of the sower and the seeds (Matthew 13:1-23), the ground does not have a choice as to how it responds to the seed. We do have a choice. We should prepare our hearts to receive the Word of God and let it enter our hearts and minds. Fr. Ed suggests ways that we can do that. Keywords: Scripture, prayer, journaling, spiritual warfare |
