Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 19, 2015, the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Fr. Ed notes that, although Biblical descriptions of shepherds frequently refer to clergy and religious, all the people of God are called to be shepherds, especially parents. Ed discusses the importance of centering our lives around Jesus. He points out that following Christ is a choice that we make, and he encourages us to make that choice each day. Fr. Ed reminds us that Jesus sends the Spirit so that we may follow His will, knowledge and power. He encourages us to open our hearts to God's will, specifically to opportunities to evangalize. |

Pat emphasizes the importance of prayer, opening our hearts to God and placing our hopes and fears in His hands. He reminds us that Jesus knows rejection. When we pray to God and hand Him our fears, we do so to a God who knows our pain and wants to help us. Fr. Pat also discusses the recent Supreme Court decision about gay marriage. He reinforces Church teaching, emphasizing why we as Catholics believe what we do. |

Kyle explores why Jesus was rejected when He returned to Nazareth to preach. He explains how it was difficult for people to accept that the Messiah came from such a lowly place. Dcn. Kyle points out, however, that the truth often comes in forms that make us uncomfortable. |

Homily given at the 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 28, 2015, the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. On the 14th Anniversary of the Dedication of our Church, Fr. Ed starts by sharing several special memories of the time surrounding the dedication of Christ the King. He goes on to remind us that, although the building is a beautiful blessing that we consistently appreciate, the largest asset of the parish is the people who fill the Church's walls each week. Fr. Ed also discusses the recent Supreme Court decision relating to gay marriage. He reminds us that God is bigger than any issue we may face, and that Jesus wants to give us so much love and grace in this time that we can actually serve as a light in the dark. |
