Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 31, 2020, the Solemnity of Pentecost, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.
As with any celebration in the Church, Pentecost is not meant to be just a remembrance of something that happened 2,000 years ago, but something for all of our lives now. The Catechism tells us that the Sacrament of Confirmation is meant to be Pentecost in the life of the believer. (See Catechism paragraph 1302.) We just need to ask for more of the Presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Ed gives some examples from his own life.
