Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 20, 2012, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. Fr. Ed notes that the apostles couldn't understand how it was better for Jesus to ascend until they received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and experienced a level of union with Him more intimate than they had ever known. That same depth of intimate relationship, with all its power, is available to all of us through the Holy Spirit, if we cooperate.
